Our Story: Why We Created Pacific Roots Collective

Every design has a story.

For us, Pacific Roots Collective isn't just a clothing brand it's a way to celebrate who we are, where we come from, and the generations that came before us.

As a Māori and Tongan family living in Australia, we know how important it is to stay connected to our culture. Being away from home can make those connections feel even more meaningful, and we wanted to create something that helps keep our heritage alive every day.

Pacific Roots Collective was born from that vision.

We wanted to create apparel that our Tamariki and the next generation could wear with pride. Clothing that sparks conversations, celebrates identity, and reminds people that their roots are something to be proud of.

Every collection we release is designed with respect for the cultures that inspire it. Whether it's our Māori collection, our Tongan designs, or future collections representing other Pacific nations, our goal is always the same: to honour our people and celebrate the beauty of our diverse Pacific communities.

But Pacific Roots Collective is about more than clothing.

It's about belonging.

It's about recognising the sacrifices our ancestors made so future generations could thrive.

It's about teaching our children where they come from and encouraging them to wear their heritage proudly.

We also believe every Pacific story deserves to be seen. As our journey grows, we're excited to expand our collections to represent even more Pacific cultures and communities.

Pacific Roots Collective is about more than the clothing.

Giving back is also at the heart of what we do. We believe that when our communities grow stronger, we all grow stronger. That's why we're proud to partner with organisations that share our values, including our collaboration with WA Tonga Rugby League (WATRL), where 100% of the proceeds from the collection are reinvested back into the organisation to help support its players, programmes, and future growth.

For us, success isn't measured only by what we sell it's measured by the positive impact we can make. Whether it's celebrating culture, supporting grassroots sport, or creating opportunities for the next generation, we're committed to building something that gives back to the communities that have shaped us.
